LEGISLATOR OVERSIGHT

Who are your elected representatives in the National Assembly and the State House of Assembly? Let's do a little exercise: Find out their names and contact details (telephone numbers, email address, constituency office address and, if possible, if their home address!). How do you get the information? Well, that is the assignment which you have to do! Make out time and investigate. You can get that information withing one week.

And if your State of Residence is different from your State of Origin, fior them. We must scrutinise their every move.nd out the information for both states. You need the information to play your role of keeping your elected representatives on their toes working for you. Monitor their activities in the legislature. Ask them questions on issues that bother you and your community. They must not have a "holiday mind-set".

Accountability in our polity is imperative. NO MORE SIDDON LOOK!! And if they do not perform within six months, START THE PROCESS OF THEIR RECALL!! You need not wait till 2015.

We must maintain Legislator Oversight. We must monitor their every move, statements, speeches and actiivities. In the Legislative House and outside it. We must scrutinise them continually and consistently.

* HOW MUCH DO THEY EARN?
* WHAT BILLS ARE THEY WORKING ON?
* WHAT BILLS HAVE THEY PRESENTED?
* HOW DID THEY VOTE ON EACH BILL PRESENTED IN THE HOUSE?
* ARE THEY REGULAR AT PLENARY SESSIONS AND COMMITTEE SITTINGS?
* ARE THEY PUNCTUAL AT PLENARY SESSIONS AND COMMITTEE SITTINGS?
* WHAT VALUE ARE THEY ADDING TO YOUR COMMUNITY AND THE NATION?

We must be vigilant. SHINE YOUR EYES!!

GOD BLESS NIGERIA!
